    Accommodations for Writing

    March 1, 2020 /

I find helping students to write to be very challenging.  For some people, it comes naturally and for some people, it can be a life long struggle.  When I am developing an IEP with the parents and the rest of the team, it is important to include accommodations for students who have a writing disability so that they can be successful in the classroom. I have compiled a list of accommodations to share with you that could be helpful for your students. Obviously there is never a one size fits all solution to helping students.  But these are just different ideas that I have tried for different students. Students who…

Why you Need to Be Creating Fresh Pinterest Content

    February 24, 2020 /

“This post contains affiliate links, meaning that if you choose to click through and make a purchase, I will receive a small commission at no cost to you. I was also compensated to create this post, though all opinions are my own.” Every so often, Pinterest changes its algorithm.  When this happens it is crucial for bloggers to adapt their pinning strategy to try and get the best possible traffic on their content. Well, Pinterest has announced, through Tailwind, that they are making some major changes! What do I need to know? Pinterest’s changes are really focusing on promoting “Fresh Content”  This means that you can not post the same…

    My Teacher Planner

    February 17, 2020 /

Do you keep a teacher planner?  My teacher planner from Erin Condren is so versatile that it can be used for so many different types of teachers!  I am obsessed.  This year’s cover that I selected is gorgeous! Each year I choose a new cover that I love.  The covers are interchangeable so you can buy a few and rotate them but that isn’t something that I’ve ever done. Teacher Planner – Weekly View The weekly view is fantastic.  I use it to keep track of my rotating schedule.  I track what each of the teachers on my team is covering and I keep track of homework.  This way if…

    Should You Start a Blog?

    February 10, 2020 /

We are spending a lot more time at home right now.  And the financial future of our country is very unknown!  Have you thought of starting a side hustle?  Starting a blog can be a low cost way of bringing in some extra money. You can work at your own pace When you start a blog, you can put an hour at a time into it.  Or you can turn your blogging into a full time job.  The time commitment I make to my blog changes as my schedule changes.  I am a teacher who works summers.  This week I am not scheduled to work so I anticipate putting a…

    My January 2020 Book Reviews!

    February 3, 2020 /

I started the year strong!  This month I read FOUR books.  I am so pumped to get a jump start on my goal of reading 50 books in 2020.  I actually really liked most of the books that I read this month, so let me dive right in and tell you about them. City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert This was my book club read for January.  I was excited to read it because even though I haven’t read Eat, Pray, Love by Gilbert, I absolutely loved the movie.  Reminder to add Eat, Pray, Love to my reading list!  I was very underwhelmed by this book and I wasn’t alone. …

When You Need to Spruce Up Your TpT Products!

    January 27, 2020 /

I spend so much time creating my products on my Teachers Pay Teachers store, the last thing I want to do is go back into the files and start changing things.  But to keep your store at the forefront of popularity, it is necessary sometimes to go back and rework some of your products. TpT is constantly changing it’s features and what works, it is important to keep your store caught up! You Find an Error This is an easy one.  When you find an error in your products, you need to fix it. I have on two separate occasions had customers graciously reach out to tell me of small…

    Accommodations for Students with Dyscalculia

    January 20, 2020 /

Working with students with Dyscalculia can be challenging.  Students who have dyscalculia tend to have difficulty with number sense, manipulating numbers, and completing computation among other things.  Supporting these students in your classroom can be challenging.  Dyscalculia will mostly affect them in math, but I have had students who are affected by it in science class also because of the math necessary for topics like Chemistry. If you are concerned that your child is affected by Dyscalculia, it may be time for you to have a conversation with your child’s teachers.  Often these students qualify for special education services due to having a Specific Learning Disability in the area of…

    Create a Morning Routine!

    January 13, 2020 /

Having a morning routine is the key to starting your day off on the right foot.  Prior to creating a morning routine, I hit snooze three times, scroll social media, and then freaked out that I wasn’t going to have time to get ready.  Because of that, I was starting my day rushed, panicked, and feeling like I was playing catch-up. Creating a morning routine will help you start your day off in a way that makes you feel prepared and productive. Decide what you want to prioritize in your morning routine There are a million things that you could add to your morning routine.  Obviously you can not fit…

Tips for Starting a Teacher Instagram

    January 6, 2020 /

So there are many reasons that Instagram is wonderful, but trying to build a following can be quite a headache! If you are running a Teachers Pay Teachers store, or a blog, you are probably working on having an online presence to help build an audience and get traffic to your blog and store. Maintain Your Brand When you are making an instagram, make sure to use the same or similar logos to what you have on your other sites.  This allows people to recognize you better.  If your logo becomes familiar to them then they will be more likely to follow you and recognize you when they come across…

    December 2020 Book Reviews

    January 4, 2020 /

I read some great books this month.  I definitely did not meet my goal of reading 50 books in 2020 but I guess I will try again next year! The Grace Year by Kim Leggett I saw this book recommended on Instagram from another teacher that I follow.  I don’t typically read young adult dystopian fiction but I put it on hold at the library and when it became available I read it. I have to say that I am so glad that I did!  This was an awesome story that I really enjoyed. In the place where Tierney is from, it is believed that women have evil powers.  In…
