Part 2: Design and Monetize Your Blog

In this post, I am going to discuss more ways to monetize your blog.

Create Your Own Products

Being in the education field, this is easy for me because I am constantly creating worksheets and reference sheets for my students.  I use Teachers Pay Teachers to post my products and they do most of the hard work for you.  They collect payments, deal with a lot of the state sales tax laws (but not all so make sure you know what you’re doing) and payout monthly.

But if you are in a different field, create an eBook and research how to market it.

Another common product is to create an online course on something that you specialize in.  Teachable has a great platform to create and market online courses.

Email Marketing

Creating an email list is the best way to build a loyal following.  It gives your readers a chance to get to know you better.  Readers that trust you are going to be more willing to trust your opinions and buy the products that you recommend.

I use Convert Kit to maintain my email list, create automated sequences, and send newsletters.

With Convert Kit, I create products to offer my readers for free and in exchange, they join my email list.  When you are doing this make sure the products that you offer are you’re to give away and are valuable.  If your readers download your product and realize that it is junk you are going to immediately seem like a sleazy salesman and they will unsubscribe from your list.

Creating high-quality opt-in products will make your readers want more from you.  They will want to know what other value you can offer them.

Once you have their email address, you can create lines of communication that you can use to send them more information about valuable products or they can use to ask questions that they have about your topic.  I often have people responding to my emails asking me questions and I try my best to answer each one.

My goal for this series of blog posts is to update it as I learn more information about blogging myself.  The one thing about blogging is that it is constantly a growing and changing industry.
