Creating Professional, Eye-Catching Products on TpT
Selling on TpT is a great way for teachers, aids, and other educational professionals to make a side income. There are even a number of people who have turned their TpT store into a full-time job.
Create Eye-Catching Covers
When a shopper is scrolling through all of the results to their search your cover is what is going to catch their eye. Look around Teachers Pay Teachers for some ideas. What product covers catch your eye? What is it about them that you are attracted to?
Boring covers are not going to equal clicks, people are just going to keep scrolling past your product and choose something that is more appealing to them. I like colorful covers with big bold fonts that are easy to read. I also like putting little images of the product on the cover so people know what they’re getting.
Make your covers square so that they will be as large as possible on the search page.
Here is one of my more recent covers:
Create a Theme
This is just a personal preference. All of my covers have a similar theme. When I am scrolling through search results, I think it is clear which products are mine.
This screenshot is the first few products that show up in my store. I included this to show you an example of what my covers look like. You can see how my covers have evolved. I used to use the frames and now I just use rounded color blocks.
I think that the theme creates a great look for my store as a whole, but again this tip is just personal preference.
Get Involved
The best way to really get a finger on the pulse of what is going on in the TpT world is to get involved. Join Facebook groups, or get involved in the message boards, or both.
I find that constantly communicating with other TpT sellers helps me to stay up to date with what is working for other people and what isn’t. Also, it helps me to stay up to date with all of the current trends and tips.
Networking is useful in any profession, TpT, and blogging included.
Make Previews
More shoppers are willing to buy products that have previews. When shoppers are deciding which product to purchase, the more information they have about what they are getting, the more comfortable they are going to be spending their money on it.
Making a preview is going to give the shopper more information and more willing to hit that “purchase” button.
