Last year I didn’t meet my Goodreads goal of reading 50 books.  So this year I set the same goal again and I’m not off to a good start.  I better get down to business and do some catching up over February Vacation!

A Bone to Pick by Charlaine Harris

This is the second book in the Aurora Teagarden book series.  I found this series because I am a big fan of the movies with Candace Cameron Bure on the Hallmark Channel.  Although one thing that I did find to be interesting is that they released the first two movies in the reverse order of the books.

This novel is about a young librarian named Aurora who also manages properties for her mother.  She finds out at the beginning of the novel that a woman in her Real Murders Club has left her all of her money and her house.  Aurora did not have any special relationship with this woman and is as surprised as everyone else when she finds out.  When Aurora is at the house she discovers a human skull in the window seat.

Aurora has to figure out whose skull she found and why her friend has been hiding it for all of these years.

This story was light and an easy read, but at no point was there really any suspense or mystery.  Throughout the book, Aurora was not really actively pursuing the case, everything just kind of fell in her lap.  I found the movie to be much more enjoyable for me and that is not common for me.

I have this book 2.5 out of 5 stars.
