How to Make Money From Blogging

This post may contain affiliate links. That means that if you click the links and make a purchase I may receive compensation at no additional cost to you. I do not recommend any companies that I do not persoanlly use and love. Please read our disclaimer for more info.

As a blogger, we all start because we have something that we want to share.  But typically we all have the same ultimate goal, to make our blogs profitable.  I have compiled a list of ways that you can take your blog and make it profitable.

Affiliate Marketing

The most common way that I have come across to make money blogging is through affiliate marketing.  Affiliate marketing is when you are paid a commission to sell a product for another company.  Common affiliate marketing websites are Amazon Affiliates and Share a Sale.

These two websites, among others, provide you with links to different companies and products.  The link they provide you gives you credit for the traffic and if the person who clicks the link goes on to make a purchase, then you get a certain percentage of that purchase.  The amount you get depends on the website and the product.

Ads

It is also possible to put ads on your blog.  I use Google’s Adsense to put ads on my blog.  Be careful with these because blogs that have too many ads are going to turn off readers.  Google’s AdSense gives you money based on traffic and link clicks.  This is a very minimal source of income and is not going to be a primary source of income.

Products

The best way to make money blogging is to make your own products.  I do this, but I do it differently than you will often see.  I link my blog back to my Teachers Pay Teachers website where I have posted my products that I have created.

Other ideas of products are online courses, ebooks, or any other electronic media.  Is there something that you think that you excel in that you could share with other people?  Create an e-book or e-course and share your knowledge with others.  People underestimate their value to their customers.

If you need help getting started with creating your own products, check out this e-course:

In this course, Alex and Lauren at CreateandGo teach you how to make a mega-profitable blog and how to create e-courses and e-books.  I love all of their classes because they really break it down so that anyone can understand.

Sponsored Posts

Sponsored posts are something that I have only dabbled in a little.  A sponsored post is when you are hired by another company to create a post for their website.  Where in affiliate marketing, you only get paid if there is a sale, the benefit to sponsored posts is that there is usually a flat fee involved in writing the blog post or article.
