    May 2018 Book Reviews

    June 4, 2018 /

Let me tell you, I can’t wait until summertime when I can just read all the time.  It is actually taxing at times to find time to finish three books.  And that is so sad!  But this month I read some good ones. Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah If you have read a book by Kristin Hannah, then you are probably a fan.  The first book that I read from her was The Nightingale and that is probably one of the best books that I have ever read.  And this novel did not disappoint. Winter Garden is a novel about two daughters and their mother.  After their father passes they try to…

    My April 2018 Book Reviews

    May 3, 2018 /

I had big plans of reading all the books over April Vacation from school.  But, that didn’t happen, I only read my normal three books this month.  I am really going to have to get moving if I am going to hit 50 books this year! My book club book this month was The Stars Are Fire by Anita Shreve.  This novel is the story of a young mother who is dealing with a strained relationship with her husband.  She lives on the coast of Maine in the mid-1900s.  When a fire destroys her hometown, she is required to start over and learn how to crawl from the ashes and…

    My March 2018 Book Reviews

    March 15, 2018 /

I read two pretty good books this month and one dud.  I was very excited that it was my turn to pick a book for book club and it was pretty well liked!  And we never agree! The Identicals by Elin Hildebrand I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. In the past, I was a huge fan of Hildebrand’s work. She writes books that are fun, light, and entertaining. After reading many of her books, I started to get bored with them. But, I keep reading them. After reading The Rumor last year, I started falling in love with her work. The Identicals was an entertaining story of…

    My February 2018 Book Reviews

    March 1, 2018 /

This month I threw a little non-fiction into the mix, so I read two non-fiction books as well as the book I had to read for my book club. It’s Not Okay by Andi Dorfman I read this book because I am a huge fan of The Bachelor.  Andi Dorfman was a former contestant on The Bachelor who became the Bachelorette after her season ended.  She is a strong independent woman (in my opinion).  And hearing her stories about her tumultuous relationship with the seemingly big-hearted dreamboat that she chose was surprising and soap-worthy. If you enjoy the series and are looking for an enjoyable, easy read, I recommend this…

    My January 2018 Book Reviews

    January 25, 2018 /

This month was a slow reading month for me.  I sometimes go through bouts of migraines and when I am struggling with migraines, picking up a book is the last thing I want to do.  I’ve also been super busy!  But, this month I was able to read 3.5 books. Commonwealth by Ann Patchett The first book I read was Commonwealth by Ann Patchett.  I have not read books from Ann Patchett in the past, but I had heard good things about her work.  I found this book to be very dull.  It jumped back and forth through time without much notice or explanation.  One second you would be reading about…

    Pinterest Traffic Avalanche Review

    January 11, 2018 /

A few months ago I decided to start a blog.  But, I felt lost about how to make my blog successful!  I didn’t know what to post about, how to get attention to my blog or how to monetize my blog.  So like most of us, I went to Pinterest and started researching how to build and monetize my blog. I found that one of the keys is Pinterest Traffic. After taking several free email courses, I stumbled upon Create and Go.  The authors of Create and Go, Alex and Lauren, have run two successful blogs and have created courses to help you do the same. The first class I took from…

The 10 Best Books I Read in 2017

    December 14, 2017 /

Not only am I a teacher, I am also an avid reader.  Each year I set lofty goals on Goodreads.com and then I read voraciously to try and meet them.  This year I set a goal of 50 books, but I was sidelined from six months of migraines and fell behind.  I plan on setting the same goal next year and with the migraines at bay, I hope to reach it!  Personally, I am always looking for new books to read so I compiled a list of the best books I read in 2017.  Some of these are new, some are old.  Most I read for the first time, but…
