Let me tell you, I can’t wait until summertime when I can just read all the time.  It is actually taxing at times to find time to finish three books.  And that is so sad!  But this month I read some good ones.

Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah

If you have read a book by Kristin Hannah, then you are probably a fan.  The first book that I read from her was The Nightingale and that is probably one of the best books that I have ever read.  And this novel did not disappoint.

Winter Garden is a novel about two daughters and their mother.  After their father passes they try to work to get to know the mother who has always been cold to them.  Meanwhile, their mother seems spellbound by something that is distracting her.  As the girls learn more about their mother, they also learn the truth behind the amazing fairy tales from their childhood.  This novel was definitely a new favorite and now I feel the need to read everything Kristin Hannah has written.

I give this book 5 stars.

Still Me by Jojo Moyes

I was a big fan of Me Before You and After You, and this is the third book in the series.  I would give the previous two books between 4-5 stars each, but this book I am begrudgingly giving three stars.  At no point did I feel as though I really cared about what was happening.

This story follows Louisa Clark to New York City to work for a wealthy family as the personal assistant of the wife.  The distance creates a strain on her and her relationship with Sam who is busy on the other side of the ocean.  We get to follow Louisa as she learns to adapt to her new environment, makes friends, and discovers who she is in the big city.

The book was good but it did not capture the magic of the first two books in the series.

I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Body Love by Kelly Leveque

Kelly Leveque is a licensed nutritionist.  Her book explains how your body is reacting to the different ingredients in food.  And, how to eat daily so that you maintain a steady blood sugar and can get control of your weight, cravings, energy, and health.

Obviously, this book was not as fun an exciting as a novel but I did really like Kelly and her theories.  I have tried a few of her recipes and they are so far, very good!  Right now I am actually cooking up a pot of her buffalo chili!

I gave this book 4.5 out of 5 stars!
