My Whole30 Must Haves!
I have spent years trying to negotiate with my stomach and make it cooperate. It has not been easy. After hearing from friends and family members about the Whole 30 program, I decided that I would try my first Whole 30! It was terrifying and challenging; I am not going to lie to you. But, I did it! Did I make some miraculous discoveries about my body and digestive system? No, unfortunately, I didn’t. But, I learned a lot about myself, my dependence on certain foods, and my cravings.
Throughout my Whole 30, there were a few things that I couldn’t have lived without, some food products and some reference materials for support.
The Manual
It sounds nerdy, but I could not have survived this process without the How-to book. It teaches you exactly what to do, but it also teaches you why you’re doing it. If I didn’t have this book giving me the “why,” I would have lost my willpower and given up. But knowing what I was going to get at the end of this journey, I was able to keep pushing myself through. Thrive Market
Thrive Market is an online grocery store where you can find many great Whole 30 compliant foods. They ship quickly and if you spend over $49 the shipping is free. I love it because I can use Apple Pay. I am someone who hates giving multiple websites my payment information, so I like using PayPal or Apple Pay.
Thrive Market has a whole section on their website where you can find all of their products that have been determined to be Whole 30 compliant. There are cooking oils, ghees, dressings, snacks, among other things. It was so convenient to have someone research for me and be able to find the products all in one place.
RXBars
RXBars, specifically this Pumpkin Spice one that I am obsessed with, are approved for emergencies only.
The hardest part for me about doing the Whole 30 was the unpredictability of my schedule. There were so many times that plans would change and I would be so tempted just to stop and pick up Chipotle because I was going to get home hours later than originally planned.
I kept an RXBar in my purse at all times for when these moments happened. If I could curb the hunger, I could prevent myself from making a bad decision that I was going to regret.
It sounds funny, but seriously I could not have survived my Whole 30 without Instagram. There are so many food bloggers, and nutritionists on Instagram that will give you tips, recipes, and encouragement. Even though I am not currently doing a Whole 30, I still follow all of these people because I have also come to enjoy their posts and stories.
Some of the people I love are, @Melissa_Hartwig (Obviously you have to follow the queen herself), @nocrumbsleft, @healthylittlepeach, @whole30recipes, to name a few.
