I read my typical three books a month this month and I need to pick it up!  If I want to meet my goal of 50 books this year, I am going to have to get moving.  A little fiction this month and a little non-fiction.  I am trying to make sure that I am reading a variety of books to keep things interesting.

It All Comes Back to You by Beth Duke

This was my book club book this month.  After a couple of bad months, I was really hoping for a good one and this one was pretty good.  This is the story of a young nurse who is left money by a former patient on the stipulation that she writes her story into a novel.  It was an interesting story about two women and what they went through to become the people that they are today.  There was comedy and there was heartbreak.  It starts with more comedy so the heartbreak was a little unexpected but it was definitely sad at several times.

This book was a pretty easy read.  It was not light and fun like I expected but that did not make me like the book any less.  I gave this book four stars out of five.

The President is Missing by James Patterson and Bill Clinton

I am not going to lie, I read this book because Bill Clinton was a part of it and it made me curious.  I was not expecting a whole lot from it, but it did not disappoint.  This novel is a bit of a political thriller about a president who has to go off the grid to stop a terrorist attack while everyone else is questioning his ability to run the country.

This book did not stand out as superior to the other books of this style but it was entertaining.  It was pretty long, but it did not seem too arduous to finish.  It was exciting and had some good twists and turns.  I gave this book four stars out of five.

Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes

This was my non-fiction selection this month.  I found this book interesting, Shonda Rhimes worked very hard to get to where she is in life and hearing her story was motivating.  Also, as a fan of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, I also thought some of the behind the scenes information about the shows was entertaining.  As well as her relationships with the cast.  But, at times I felt that things were repetitive.  She highlighted some of her personal character traits over and over.   Overall I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars.
