As a teacher, we’re not known for being in a profession where we’re making a ton of money. But like everyone I have bills to pay and want to still live a life I can enjoy. Because of this, I am always looking for ways to pick up some extra money.

I have compiled a list of all the things I do or have done to bring in some extra spending cash. None of these are going to make you instantly rich, but if you put a little time into them, you can earn some side cash.

1. Start a Blog

If I can start a blog, then anyone with a device, the internet, and an idea can start a blog. I decided last fall after doing well on TeacherspayTeachers that maybe I could make this online store I have made into something bigger. I took some courses and did my research, which surprisingly meant spending a lot of time on Pinterest, and focused my extra time on creating a successful blog. I am not going to claim to have all the answers or to know exactly what I am doing yet but I am enjoying watching my effort turn into profits.

2. Scan your Receipts

I use an app called Receipt Hog to scan receipts from my purchases and earn points. Receipt Hog will pay you through PayPal or through Amazon gift cards. It takes a decent amount of receipts to earn enough points to cash in, but I figure it takes only a few extra seconds of my time so why not?!

3. Take a Survey

I recently started using www.surveyjunkie.com. On this website, you can take surveys for points that can be redeemed for money or gift certificates.

This is something that you can easily do while relaxing, watching tv, sitting in a waiting room. Really, anywhere!

Another website that is easy to use is Inbox Dollars I use this one also.

4. Make Money Shopping

Through a friend, I discovered the app Shopkick. Check out www.shopkick.com for more info. With Shopkick, you get points for walking into participating stores. You can get even more points for scanning certain items and showing receipts for items that you have purchased.

5. Share Your Resources

When trying to find ways to make a little extra money online, I discovered that I can bring in extra money selling things that I already have. As a teacher, I am constantly making study guides and resources for my students. On www.teacherspayteachers.com you can create a sellers account and sell the resources that you’ve made to other teachers.
