Using Affiliate Sales to Make Money Blogging
Being a new blogger is tough. You spend all of your time trying to continuously come up with great content while you’re simultaneously trying to drive traffic to your blog. But with all of this work, how do you actually make money!? The best way to start is through affiliate marketing.
When I started my blog, I had two failed attempts before I finally got things off the ground. The game-changer for me was when I found Alex and Lauren at Create and Go
They are two bloggers who have created excellent courses that get your blog up, running, and profitable. I learned from their classes, Launch Your Blog Biz. That until you have your own products to sell, one of the best ways to make money blogging is through affiliate marketing.
What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate sales are when you are paid a small commission for promoting other company’s products. Selling your own products is the best way to bring in money, but this is a good alternative while you build your blog.
ShareASale
One easy way to find companies that are willing to work with you as an affiliate is on shareasale.com.
ShareASale is a platform where you can apply to be an affiliate for thousands of companies from many different categories of products. ShareASale allows you to create links on your site and they also do all the work with tracking your clicks, keeping track of your sales, and paying you.
Amazon Affiliates
Amazon Affiliates is another very popular site for affiliate sales. Through Amazon, once approved you will make a small commission for everything someone purchases within 24 hours of clicking your link. As long as in that 24 hours they don’t click another affiliate link or end the connection in another way.
Amazon tends to be a smaller source of income because you are only pulling in a small percentage of the sale, but I feel like every little bit counts!
Try it out!
Like I said earlier, affiliate marketing is not the best way to bring money to your blog, but it is a great way to start! Go to ShareASale or check out Amazon Affiliates, and see what you think would work best for your brand!
