October 2020 Book Reviews
Well this month I definitely fell short of my goal of one book per week. In the entire month of October I only finished… one book! It wasn’t even an awesome one. Hopefully in November I’ll be back on track. Although this school year is really getting the best of me.
So here goes!
Sex and Vanity by Kevin Kwan
If you’ve read the rest of my reviews, I LOVED the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy. When I saw that Kwan had written a new novel, I HAD to read it!
This book was decent. I didn’t love it as much as I wanted to. This is the story of a girl who goes to a wedding in Capri. She almost immediately meets a man who she absolutely can not stand, and his mother. He keeps showing up places and seems to get her in a way that others don’t. When he kisses her in a cave, she is furious when they are caught. Years later he reappears while she is happily engaged. She is forced to face her feelings for him.
There were large chunks of this book that I found challenging to get through. There were parts that were drawn out and dry. But overall it was an entertaining story!
I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars.
Hopefully November I’ll be able to make up some lost reading time!
