The school year is starting to wind down and I am looking forward to getting a lot of reading done this summer.  I have visions of myself sitting by the pool reading book after book.  But, we all know that is not going to happen quite as I plan.  A girl can dream, right?!

The 14th Colony by Steve Berry

I am a big fan of the Cotton Malone series that Steve Berry writes.  I love the way he writes historical fiction mixed with action and adventure.  This book was not one of my favorites but it also did not disappoint. The way that Steve Berry researches the historical events that he writes about is impressive.  He is also good at placing a section at the back of the book where he separates the fact from fiction in the novel.  Some of the stuff that I am convinced is made up is completely true and it fascinates me!

In this novel, Cotton Malone returns to fight the KGB and the USSR.  It had some interesting twists and turns as well as a team made up of the pope and Reagan!

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars.

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

This novel was my book club book for the month.  It was my pick and I really enjoyed it.

This novel is about a woman who comes home, shoots and kills her husband, and then never speaks again.  That is a very simplified version but in a nutshell that is the premise.  The novel is also about the psychologist who is determined to get through to her and figure out what happened.  This book had quite a few unexpected twists and turns but I can definitely say that I did not see the ending coming!

If you like psychological thrillers, this book is right up your alley!

I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.
